Boldness

Something I’ve been praying over recently is boldness. I’ve prayed for the courage to be loud and unapologetic about my faith, for discernment about when the Holy Spirit is speaking to me, and for the strength to obey. These prayers led me to think about my oldest son, Maverick. Maverick is so proud of his faith and effortlessly speaks about his love for Jesus. He was telling me recently about a classmate who was having a really tough moment. He said he sat next to her and just said, “Jesus loves you,” and she calmed down.

“Jesus loves you.”

Three simple words that I overcomplicate. Three beautiful words that have the power to save someone’s soul but often remain unspoken. Three powerful words that changed my life and redeemed me, yet I struggle to say them.

Sitting behind this computer makes sharing my faith easy. With one click I can share my words with the world. There’s just one thing missing: human connection. I envy that Maverick got to speak those words to someone else and see the power they hold. Thanks to Maverick, I have made it my mission this year to speak the name of Jesus to more people — to be a vessel for the Holy Spirit and let Jesus speak through me. I may never know if the words I speak will change someone’s heart or save their soul, but I will sleep better at night knowing there’s one more person who’s heard about the love of Jesus Christ.

If I can encourage you today, join me in stepping out in faith. Be bold and be courageous; don’t be afraid to speak the name of Jesus. Watch how the name of Jesus can change the world one conversation at a time.

God Bless,

Abby

But in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you. (1 Peter 3:15)
